The Salvation Army’s prison support services provide care and reintegration support for inmates, ex-offenders, and their families. Through counselling, befriending, practical assistance, and aftercare programmes, the service helps individuals rebuild their lives, strengthen family relationships, and successfully reintegrate into society. Volunteers play a vital role in offering encouragement, guidance, and hope for a fresh start.
Assessment on case-by-case assistance for immediate needs (e.g. transport, living expenses),
Weekly support group to help individuals focus on their recovery;
Helping with employment referral;
Guidance in job search, and accommodation referral; assistance in securing suitable housing.
Tailored Support for Other Needs: Flexible support for emergent needs (e.g. healthcare, counselling, education).

Family Befriender
Overview
Visit and befriend families of current or ex-inmates to help them build resourcefulness by connecting them to community resources. Volunteers will serve as role models, offering support and guidance to help these families develop practical life skills for coping with challenges. Help them gain self-sufficiency by fostering work connectedness and empowering families to grow and thrive independently.
Frequency: Regular; Twice per week
