Gracehaven Fostering collaborates with foster families to provide a safe and secure home for foster children and young persons who require care and protection. These children are in foster care due to reasons that may lead to their family being unable to care for them temporarily.
1. Fostering: Volunteer Tutors provide academic support by teaching, coaching and guiding foster child in the academic subjects. Tutors can also be imparting knowledge and other skills to foster child in their interactions.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
1) Make an effort to understand and get to know their assigned foster child over a 12 month period
2) Meet the child at least once a week to conduct the tuition lesson
2. Fostering: Befrienders will provide friendship, support and guidance to either foster children or foster parents to help them grow and improve as individuals.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
1) Make an effort to understand and get to know their assigned foster child/foster parents over a 12 month period
2) Meet the foster child/foster parents at least once every two weeks
3. Fostering: Volunteer drivers ferry foster child to access sessions, therapy sessions, school and back to foster homes, medical appointments and other approved appointments. The driver will need to use his/her own vehicle to do so. Regular Physical Regular rides can be daily, some rides can be once weekly or once a month (access).
Volunteer Responsibilities:
1) Be committed to the rides for at least 6 months
2) Make sure foster child is safely ferried from Point A to Point B
3) Be willing to work with other volunteers and foster care staff
Fostering: Event support volunteers will assist on ad hoc basis at publicity booths by engaging the public to create more awareness about the fostering scheme as well as provide assistance at our yearly fostering events/support group activities
Volunteering can be Ad hoc, face-to-face interaction and usually 4 hours per session
Volunteer Responsibilities:
1) Be committed for at least 6 months
2) Be willing to work with other volunteers and foster care staff
3) Be willing to help out during school holidays in June and December
