Kids In Play (KIP) serves children and families with an incarcerated parent. It adopts a child-centric approach that focuses on strengthening the bonds between incarcerated inmates and their family members, especially with children aged between 5 to 18 years old. It utilises casework, counselling, group work approaches and family bonding activities to address their needs, issues and challenges arising from parental incarceration.
Playroom Volunteers

Involvement day and timing from Tuesday – Saturday and from 1pm - 4pm
Responsibilities
1. To engage children waiting to attend tele visit/face to face visit with their families.
Engagement can be done through play, conversations, storytelling
2. To identify families who might need the support of KIP during this incarceration journey
EMP Groupwork Volunteers
7 times a year
Face-to-face interaction
Involvement will be at first Saturday of the following months: Jan / Feb/ Apr / May / July / Aug / Oct 2025
Timing from 12.30pm - 6pm (include briefing and debrief)
Responsibilities
1. To help to facilitate small groups activities - discussions / craft / games during the direction of staff IC
2. To encourage active participation of children during groupwork session
3. To ensure safety of children during the groupwork session
Requirements
Minimum commitment - 5 out of 7 sessions

Video Conference Volunteers

Responsibilities
To engage children waiting for their turn to see incarcerated parent for zoom session. Engagement can be conducted through play, sports, conversations, story telling.
Requirements
1. Minimum commitment - At least 2 shifts during the 1 week holiday

Kids In Play works with children from 5 to 18 years of age who face parental incarceration. Partnering closely with relevant social services, we provide professional support to the families of incarcerated parents, journeying with them during the difficult period of separation.
