Gracehaven Children's Home is a residential home for children and youth aged 7 to 18, and is a place of safety for children and youths who may be victims of abuse, neglect, or require a more structured living environment. The home offers them a safe space to heal, rebuild, and grow—the nurturing environment they rightfully deserve.
1. Gracehaven: Volunteer Tutors provide academic support by teaching, coaching and guiding residents in various academic subjects.
Once a week, 1.5 to 2 hrs each time
Physical Weekday evenings
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Conduct one-on-one tution with assigned resident at least once a week.
Tasks include assisting them with their homework, revision and clarifying of concepts and learning ahead.
2. Gracehaven: Befrienders will provide friendship, support and guidance to residents to help them grow and improve as individuals.
At least once a month Physical Flexible - either weekdays or weekends
Volunteer Responsibilities:
1) Make an effort to understand and get to know the assigned resident over a 12 month period
2) Meet the residents at least once every month
3) Positively engage the resident in activity or conversation during each meeting
3. Gracehaven: Activity Leads will plan and execute activities and/or workshops for our residents (est. group size of 30 - 40) to engage them positively and/or impart new skills.
Volunteering can be Ad hoc, face-to-face interaction (especially needed during school holidays)
Volunteer Responsibilities:
1) Work closely with Gracehaven programmes team to conceptualise and create meaningful activity for residents
2) Secure all resources needed to execute the activity
3) Ensure activity is well executed
