Brief: Our Sojourn programme is expanding to reach more migrant worker dormitories. With your kind volunteerism, we can do better for our more than 100,000 strong migrant worker beneficiary community, like holding more health checkups, providing more counselling, and reaching out to those in need more effectively.
Commitment level: One day weekly / fortnightly / monthly, after working hours. (Usually 7pm-9pm) for 2-5 hours at a time.
You will be paired with a friend / fellow experienced volunteer / TSA Staff for the duration of all programmes.
Locations: Various migrant worker dormitories across Singapore.
Good-To-Haves: We need volunteers especially in the following Efforts:
Dormitory Outreach Efforts, where we visit migrant worker dormitories to reach out to migrant workers and let them know that the Salvation Army is here for them.
Helpdesking, where we set up a booth at migrant worker dormitories to provide services such as health checkups, counselling, food distribution, etc
Movie Screening & Outings, where we bring migrant workers out to various attractions around Singapore, and/or screen movies in dormitories for their enjoyment.
Befriending & Mentoring migrant workers to support them and ensure that they have a listening ear
Specialised welfare Skills to improve Quality of Life for migrant workers, where some dormitories do not provide such services to their resident migrant workers. (Most in demand: Financial Literacy, Basic IT, barbering, counselling, first aid, etc)
Bonuses:
If you have the following, we would LOVE to have your kind volunteerism even more.
1) Ability to speak various Asian regional languages or dialects (i.e. Teochew, Hindi, Burmese, Laotian, etc)
2) Paracounselling experience (Must be certified)
3) Experience with Migrant Workers / Dormitories

The Sojourn Programme is an outreach programme that seeks to improve the well-being of the male migrant workers community in Singapore. Through weekly activities and events at different dormitories and recreation centres, we aim to improve social integration between the local and migrant communities, and enhance the migrant workers’ quality of life during their temporary stay in Singapore
