The Salvation Army Sojourn – Help-Desk Befrienders @ Dormitories
Opportunity - Once a week to Once a month.
Weekdays from 6:30pm to 9:30pm
Help-Desk Befrienders are expected to be willing to serve in any of the following roles during Help-Desk operation. They will be assigned on that day of operation. They are also expected to help out at other stations as and when the need arises during the operation day.
The various Help-Desk roles are:
1. Counselling Befrienders
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday (3hr)
*Befriend and listen to migrant workers who approached us with issues
*Highlight the issues to TSA Sojourn
2. Food/Fruit/Item Distributors
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday (3hr)
*Set-up the food distribution tables with the assistance of dormitory staff.
*Ensure the food/item distribution is orderly and safe for everyone.
*Distribute the food/fruit/item with a smile.
3. Blood Pressure Assistants
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday (3hr)
*Conduct blood pressure measurement of migrant workers.
*Explain the reading to the migrant workers.
*Highlight those the “high-risk” cases to the healthcare professionals/healthy food habits ambassadors on duty.
4. Healthy Food Habits Ambassadors
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday (3hr)
*Encourage healthy food habits among migrant workers
*Explain the link of food and drinks with overall health.
*Encourage those belonging to the “high-risk” cases to seek medical follow-up. Record down their particulars for TSA Sojourn’s follow-up.
5. Course/Event Registration Assistants
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday (3hr)
*Register and collect particulars of migrant workers who are keen to attend upcoming events or courses.
*Collect registration fees.
*Ensure all registration details are recorded and collection are tallied.
*Submit the particulars and registration fees to team leader of Help-Desk.
6. Survey Assistants
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday (3hr)
*Register and collect particulars of migrant workers who qualify and are willing to take the surveys.
*Ask the migrant workers the prepared questions.
*Ensure all answers are recorded properly and submitted via the survey url link.
Preferably at least 1 year commitment
Location: Migrant Worker Dormitories
The Salvation Army Sojourn – Sojourn Tour: Event Organizers, Guides and Assistants
Adhoc programme but average once a month involvement usually on weekends or public holidays
Sojourn Tour volunteers are expected to be willing to serve in any of the following roles during the Sojourn Tour. They will be assigned on that day of operation. They are also expected to help out at other stations as and when the need arises during the operation day.
The various Sojourn Tour roles are:
1. Event Registration Assistants (Help-Desk @ Dorm)
*Commitment: 3hr on weekday evening.
*Register and collect particulars of migrant workers who are keen to attend the Tour.
*Collect registration fees.
*Ensure all registration details are recorded and collection are tallied.
*Submit the particulars and registration fees to team leader of Help-Desk.
2. Logistics Helpers
*Attend briefing session(s) before event
*Coordinate and make sure needed logistics are available and set-up at Welcome area and Fellowship area
*Collect food and drinks and bring them to Fellowship Area.
3. Bus Captains
*Arrive early on event day at Dormitory to fetch migrant workers.
*Mark attendance (if it is not done by Dorm operators).
*Ensure migrant workers who signed up gets priority to join Tour.
*Update status with Tour Team Leader via whatsapp.
4. Tour Guides and Assistants
*Befriend the migrant workers assigned to you.
*Be a good host and guide the migrant workers through the place of interest
*Assist migrant workers to take their photos (using their phones) during the tours
*Take videos and photos of your group using your own phone and send to Team Leader.
*Update status with Tour Team Leader via whatsapp
*Bring them to Fellowship Area for activities.
5. Games (Master of Ceremony)
*Conduct 1 hour of Games & Lucky-Draw at Fellowship Area
*Ensure the event is conducted in an orderly and safe manner
*Express our appreciation of the migrant workers for their contribution to our nation-building
*Conduct Games for migrant workers to have an enjoyable time
*Conduct prize-giving for games and lucky-draw
*Remind workers to give constructive Feedback at the end of each event.

The Salvation Army Sojourn – “Stay Strong” Programme – Course Instructors and Facilitators
Involvement once a week to once a month on weekdays and weekends evening from 6:30pm to 9:30pm
Volunteers could teach or facilitate the above courses. We also welcome volunteers who could design the customized courses to suit our migrant workers. Volunteer Instructors and Facilitators are expected to serve for at least one year in their courses.
The various roles are:
1. English Classes (Instructors/Facilitators)
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday/weekend evening (3hr)
*Conduct classes at the dormitory (to be specified)
*Content can be self-created (approval needed) or based on TSA-provided content.
*Befriend the students and mark their attendance
*Highlight any issues that arise to TSA Sojourn
*Facilitator will also help in simple admin submission.
2. IT Classes (Instructors/Facilitators)
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday/weekend evening (3hr)
*Conduct classes at the specific dormitory
*Content can be self-created (approval needed) or based on TSA-provided content.
*Befriend the students and mark their attendance
*Highlight any issues that arise to TSA Sojourn
*Facilitator will also help in simple admin submission.
3. First-Aider Classes (Facilitators)
*Commitment: Be available for all session when Class begins
*Conduct classes at the dormitory (to be specified)
*Befriend the students and mark their attendance
*Highlight any issues that arise to TSA Sojourn
*Facilitator will also help in simple admin submission.
4. Mental Wellness Class (Instructors/Facilitators)
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday/weekend evening (3hr)
*Conduct classes at the dormitory (to be specified)
*Content can be self-created (approval needed) or based on TSA-provided content.
*Befriend the students and mark their attendance
*Highlight any issues that arise to TSA Sojourn
*Facilitator will also help in simple admin submission.
5. Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Classes (Instructors/Facilitators)
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday/weekend evening (3hr)
*Conduct classes at the dormitory (to be specified)
*Content can be self-created (approval needed) or based on TSA-provided content.
*Befriend the students and mark their attendance
*Highlight any issues that arise to TSA Sojourn
*Facilitator will also help in simple admin submission.
6. Fathering Group Workshop (Facilitators)
*Commitment: Be available for all sessions when the workshop begins
*Conduct workshop at the dormitory (to be specified)
*Based on TSA partner’s ICAN content.
*Befriend the workers and mark their attendance
*Highlight any issues that arise to TSA Sojourn
*Facilitator will also help in simple admin submission.
7. Volunteer Admin Assistants (Courses)
*Commitment: At least twice per month on weekday/weekend evening (3 to 4 hours)
*Assist trainers at workshops at the dormitory
*Register and mark attendance of attendees
*Befriend the migrant workers
*Ensure orderliness and safe environment for all, with the help of dormitory staff.
*Highlight any issues that arise to TSA Sojourn
*Make sure all Admin matters are in order and submitted: Volunteers & Worker’s Attendance, Incident Report etc.
Preferably 1 year commitment

The Salvation Army Sojourn – Sojourn Rehabilitative Services – Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapies and TCM Practitioners
Involvement once a week to once a month on weekdays and weekends afternoons and evenings for 3 hour each time
We need volunteers for the following roles:
1. Physiotherapists (Volunteer)
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday/weekend evening (3 to 4 hours)
*Conduct physiotherapy at the assigned dormitory
*Supervise physiotherapy assistants/trainees serving with him/her
*Update Worker’s Rehab Record
2. Physiotherapy Assistants/Trainee (Volunteer)
* Commitment: At least once per month on weekday/weekend evening (3 to 4 hours)
*Assist in physiotherapy at the assigned dormitory under supervision from qualified physiotherapist
*Update Worker’s Rehab Record
3. Occupational Therapists (Volunteer)
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday/weekend evening (3 to 4 hours)
*Conduct occupational therapy at the assigned dormitory
*Supervise OT assistants/trainees serving with him/her
*Update Worker’s Rehab Record
4. Occupational Therapy Assistants/Trainee (Volunteer)
* Commitment: At least once per month on weekday/weekend evening (3 to 4 hours)
*Assist in OT at the assigned dormitory under supervision from qualified OT
*Update Worker’s Rehab Record
5. Licensed TCM Practitioner (Volunteer)
*Commitment: At least once per month on weekday/weekend evening (3 to 4 hours)
*Conduct TCM at assigned dormitory without dispensation of medicine
*Update Worker’s Rehab Record
6. Preventive Workshop Trainer (Volunteer)
*Commitment: At least twice per month on weekday/weekend evening (3hr each)
*Conduct workshop/classes at assigned dormitory
*Content can be self-created (approval needed) or based on TSA-provided content.
*Befriend the migrant workers
*Mark their attendance if there is no Admin Asst
*Highlight any issues that arise to TSA Sojourn
7. Volunteer Admin Assistants (Rehab Services)
*Commitment: At least twice per month on weekday/weekend evening (3 to 4 hours)
*Assist trainers or healthcare professionals at workshops or TCM/PT/OT sessions at the dormitory
*Register and mark attendance of attendees
*Befriend the migrant workers
*Ensure orderliness and safe environment for all, with the help of dormitory staff.
*Highlight any issues that arise to TSA Sojourn
*Make sure all Admin matters are in order and submitted: Worker’s Rehab Record, Volunteers’ & Workers’ Attendance, Incident Report etc.

Welcome Centre (Little India)
The Salvation Army Sojourn – Eye-/Health-Screening Event Organizers & Assistants
Adhoc programme but average once a month involvement usually on weekends or public holidays
Health-screening volunteers are expected to be willing to serve in any of the assigned roles during the event. They will be assigned on that day of operation according to their preferences and the needs on the ground. They are also expected to help out at other stations as and when the need arises during the operation day.
The various Health-Screening roles are:
1. Registration Assistants
*Welcome, befriend and register the migrant workers who attend the event
*Record all essential data of attendees
*Remind migrant workers wait for their turn before the start of their stations
2. Stations IC/Assistants
*Set-up and clean up the station tables with the assistance of dormitory staff.
*Conduct the screening tests as instructed.
*Take necessary precautions, especially if the test station involves the taking of blood (which requires necessary nursing/healthcare qualifications).
*Typical stations include: Blood Pressure Measurement, BMI, Blood Sugar, Reading Test, Consultation, Counselling and Goodies Bag Stations.
3. Doctors (Volunteers)
*Conduct Consultation for migrant workers, especially those with “high-risk” readings
*Refer migrant workers if needed
4. Healthy Food Habits Ambassadors
*Encourage healthy food habits among migrant workers
*Explain the link of food and drinks with overall health.
*Encourage those belonging to the “high-risk” cases to seek medical follow-up. Record down their particulars for TSA Sojourn’s follow-up.
5. Human Traffic Wardens
*Ensure the orderly and safe running of the event.
*Direct migrant workers from stations to stations with a smile and reasonable firmness.
*Submit the particulars and registration fees to team leader of Help-Desk.
6. Survey Assistants
*Register and collect particulars of migrant workers who qualify and are willing to take the surveys.
*Ask the migrant workers the prepared questions.
*Ensure all answers are recorded properly and submitted via the survey url link.

The Sojourn Programme is an outreach programme that seeks to improve the well-being of the male migrant workers community in Singapore. Through weekly activities and events at different dormitories and recreation centres, we aim to improve social integration between the local and migrant communities, and enhance the migrant workers’ quality of life during their temporary stay in Singapore
